Made a little progress on our XS650 project. The frame is almost ready for paint. Have a few more hard to reach spots to clean before it is ready for paint.
Finished the 2 into 1 intake. Shot some paint on it as well as the exhaust mount in the background. The intake will be wrapped with high heat wrap so we did not take the time to make it look perfect.
Keep checking back here for updates.
Finally after quite a long gap in work, most of the bike is back from paint. It has some unique color for a completely unique bike. It will be good to get this back on the road. Waiting for the rear shocks before we can make it a roller.
We will start back on this project soon. So, keep checking back for updates
We got the top or right intake tube tacked on & lined up with the bottom or left intake tube.
We have completed the welding of the intake. Still have to clean it up & shorten it a bit to make it all work with the look & other components. In this pic you can see where we split the intake to fully weld, clean up & smooth the inside of the intake runners so the fuel will flow. .
Gives you an idea of what the exhaust & intake will look like together from the back of the bike.
Here you can see what it it will all look like from the right side of the bike. Will have a cool look.
We also got the baffles in the pipes & made the lower exhaust mount. Now for finish welding & clean up.
Keep checking back for updates.
Started on the 2 into 1 intake for the XS650 project today. First step was making the intake bolt flanges.
Next was to figure out the starting angles & cut the pipe. Everything is barley tacked together, easier to cut apart if we want to change it.
We have the left intake tube set up but still need to finish the right tube. Then cut both to mate them together.
Keep checking back for updates on this project.
Finished up tacking the exhaust together. You can now see what it is going to look like. It is made for 1 1/2 inch pipe & is finished with 1 3/4 inch slash cut chrome tips. The right pipe runs around the oil dipstick/oil fill hole & behind the kicker arm.
The left pipe runs on top of the motor under the back bone to meet up with the right exhaust pipe on the right hand side behind the kicker arm.
From the back you can see the how the left pipe crosses over & turns down on the right side.
The angle of both pipes are matched to make them look uniform from the front.
The pipes will sport a 4 inch baffle to give a little back pressure.
Next up we will start on the 2 into 1 intake.
Keep checking back for updates.
Got started on the exhaust today. There is a lot to this exhaust as the left side will cross through the frame to meet up with the right side. Lots of bends & turns. We have a good start on it so far. Once we get it all tacked together we will start on the intake. Once they are both all tacked together we will pull them off for final welding & grinding.
Keep checking back here for updates.
Got to spend a little time on the XS650 project today. Welded in the new battery box & started the stripping process.
Need to still do finish sanding & grinding before we can paint it. But it is getting closer.
Will post more pics after we get the frame stripped to bare metal.
Keep checking back for updates.
Picked up a 78' swing arm & wheel, so the rear of the bike will now have a disc instead of the old drum.
We had to shorten the caliper stay rod & make a new rear mount for it to make sure there was enough clearance for suspension travel since the bike is now much lower than stock.
Made a new battery box. Used a part from the original box to give us more area to bolt stuff to under the seat. There is less room in the area under the seat because the top frame rails are much lower than stock. So, the battery had to be moved down. Still need to clean up the welds & get it welded into the frame. The battery will be mounted sideways to make room for the rear master cylinder.
As soon as the battery box is welded in the frame will be able to be stripped, sanded and prepped for paint.
Keep checking back for updates.
We did a little work on an 07' Warrior this weekend. Just enough to change the look of the bike.
Fabrication: Side Mount Plat & Fender Eliminator Kit.
Parts: Integrated Taillight, 3" Exhaust, Power Commander, Windscreen & Sissy Bar.
The owner is also planning a new intake & different pipes in the near future. So, check back for updates.
