XS Update 01/13/2012
Finished up the wiring & everything works great. Everything except the ignition. So, the bike wont run. We were hoping to run the factory ignition to save a little money but as it turns out the ignitor/coil does not work. So, we are ordering a new Pamco ignition that will increase the performance of the entire system. We still have plenty to do wile waiting for the ignition. So, keep checking back here for updates. Still getting all the wiring together. Did get the carb rebuilt & have mocked up on the 2 into 1 intake we made. Also, replaced the Rebel shocks with one inch longer progressive shocks. The ignition switch & starter button are all wired in. Hopefully we will get this thing started soon. We will post a video as soon as we get it. So keep checking back here for updates. Got the pipes on! 12/09/2011
Got the pipes on the bike. Still messing with all the wiring & fiddling with the carb set up. Hopefully soon we will get this thing fired up. Keep checking back here for updates. A little more XS work done 12/02/2011
Got the pipes all wrapped & high temp coated. Still working on all the wiring but have the headlight & speedo on. We are making progress so keep checking back here for updates. XS650 Progress 11/28/2011
Still painting little bits & pieces of the bike. Seems like there is always a small part that needs to be painted. Also, got to wrap the exhaust pipes. Need to finish them off with a coat of paint & they will be ready to install. Still messing with the wiring but did manage to get the bars on. Keep checking back here for updates on this project. Back to work 11/24/2011
Began the wiring on the XS. It is a chore to get everything tucked away in the backbone & in the lower frame rail. All wiring will be hidden in these two tubes. It will give the bike really clean look. We also modified the front engine mount to hold the horn & the rectifier/regulator. It is a nice location to tuck away these items. All the wiring for both of these runs through the lower left part of the frame. Keep checking back here for progress on this project. Its back on the ground! 11/08/2011
The day has finally arrived! The XS is back on its own 2 wheels. Still have a lot to do before it gets back on the road but it is good to see it back on its own 2 wheels. We will be out of town for the next week. So, when we get back into town & have made more progress we will post it here. Swing arm & Trees On 11/02/2011
XS swing arm is back on with new needle bearings. We also got the trees back on with new roller bearings installed. Hopefully it will be back on the ground soon. Keep checking back here for updates on this project. Painted Wheels 10/31/2011
With the rest of the XS a nice new black we decided to paint the wheels to match. It was a fun taping exercise but it came out nice. We are getting closer to a whole bike again so keep checking back here for updates to this project. Engine is in! 10/24/2011
Well we got the XS engine in. These motors fit tight in the frame. So, the easiest way to get them back in is to lay the motor on its side & put the frame over the motor. These pics give you an idea of what it looks like sitting upright. Keep checking back here for updates. | Dynamic BlogWe blog project progress, events & what ever we feel like.
